Marine
Thermoset resins have been widely used in the marine / offshore industry for many years not only for the ease of processing but also the protection they offer. Extensive long term testing, by our numerous clients in this market sector, has helped protect, explore and maintain installations and research in one of the world’s most unforgiving environments.Greenfield Polymers have over two decades of experience in the design development and manufacture of resin systems for the marine / offshore industry, servicing some of the world’s largest manufacturers. In order to locate or design the best product for your needs please contact the technical sales office for a free consultation and let them do the hard work for you. Sample applications
- The biggest industry served is the Petrochemical industry where the requirement for effective long life materials is essential to run these multi million dollars per day operations. Polyurethane and Epoxy have become the materials of choice due to their proven track record and the ease of processing both on shore and at Sea.
Properties
Casting / Moulding – whether the client requires bend restrictors for off shore pipes, Pigs for sending inside the pipeline for cleaning or fenders for boat protection our Polyurethane products have seen extensive use. Based on the latest technology the products offer excellent tear, tensile and elongation with a huge range of hardness variance available depending on application requirement. They can also be pigmented for high visibility requirements. Coating – Our Polyurethane and Epoxy compounds have been successfully used in a number of coating applications. These include: the pipeline industry for insulation and protection against seawater of the internal petrochemical as it travels many miles along the seabed; the coating of buoyancy devices with an elastomer Polyurethane; the coating of rope, pontoons and boats to give longevity.
Encapsulation – In many applications Polyurethane is required to encapsulate and protect sensitive components against seawater. These include encapsulation of cable connectors on remote observation vehicles and encapsulation of bird trackers in the Antarctic seas.
